I am now doing my house surgeoncy. I don't know whether I have a real taste in clinical medicine even now. As a kid my hobbies were reading story books, playing with LEO building blocks and drawing fictitious cities, space shuttles, and vehicles of my own fancy world. I created my own characters, places and stories of their life. I remember making a small town model with clay. I loved playing with mud and little twigs. Fortunately we lived in a small cottage of our own with some piece of backyard space. so after school I was free to play around in the backyard. But it was a poor thing that I didn't had boys around my age around my place. But my brother had lot of friends. They were also good to me, but four five year age difference is a great difference in childhood. So I had to much of my time lonely. At that time mom meant very much to me. But now it is not as intense as at that time. Any way coming back to the point, I was not that bad in studying. Even though I weren't the cream of the class I could score good grades. Although we belonged to a middle class family and my father could afford good private school for our education there were always financial problems. The monetary constraints often intruded my happy childhood. So every fun things were limited by this problem. As a result when I was a kid my main ambition was to grow up and become a self supporting member of the family as early as possible. In my country unemployment is a social evil and one of the best way to procure a job with sure security was to become a doctor. The competition was tight. But the family support and brothers advises helped me to get through medical entrance easily. After all my mind was clear. I had nothing to be indulged in or distract me from my studies. So I entered the medical college completed my studentship without much difficulty and now working as a resident intern. This is the infancy of my medical life. This is time when I started thinking about me. And the story starts...

Life as a young doctor- Richard Gordon
I am very much influenced by the writings of Richard Gordon. He has beautifully described different stages of life of a doctor. Even after half a century nothing much has changed from what he described. Only change is in the invention of new drugs and modernized medical techniques and instruments. Surprisingly the attitude of the people and in general the society hasn't changed a bit from his descriptions. So in short his scribbles should be read by every young doctor interested in general practice. I myself has fancied as a ships doctor many times. And I was amused by the fact that his series contained his experiences as a ships doctor- Doctor in Sea
