Whats the whole point of life?

To start with its a very debatable thing. Although all human beings are capable of independent thinking, more than 99.9% of them never think of it. And I think the rest of .1% has contributed to the progress we see today. Have you ever thought why there was this tremendous development of human life style in the past few centuries in spite of the long history of  human life on earth.
From my short duration of observation of life, what I understand is that , every body is compelled to live this life for the fact that they are born here on earth. And "survival of the fittest " is actually an incomplete clause, because its always "survival of the fittest till death ". Well I think death is reward you get for surviving. So why should any one be afraid of it ? Although it seems little depressing, my dear folks think of death as as a gateway out of this earthly life as silly creatures.
P.S This is definitely not a suicidal note.
