First time in a desert.

It was a part of 'Knowing my Country' series of journeys. An unchartered train trip to Jaisalmer from Delhi. The fort in Jaisalmer is awesome. The sand dunes are nice, but not inspiring; like a beach.

The Orange days

I know I have been writing too much these days. One reason is that I got plenty of time to think and reflect. Since the peripheral posting has started I started to gain weight. It went upto 7kgs above my base 80kgs. So I gave a thought on trying the friutarian diet to reduce weight. Another major reason for this decison was that I am running low on my wallet due to tax deduction from the usual 5 digit salary. Also reducing the weight is necessary if I have to start the marathon practice. So I started it on 4 th of Feb..20 days over and I am 6 kgs less than my starting weight.

Now I think I will push hard to lose ten more kgs.

Ps: I am eating one and half kilo orange everyday, which forms 95% of my diet plan.

Dancing alone..

Ha ha ha...today was the residents night. Something that happens once in a year. I was so happy and enthusiastically waiting for it. Lots of booze, good food and music. Actually I was dancing alone in the crowd this night. But I was not bothered. Rather I hope by this time next year I would have gone to a club with a girlfriend.

And winter in Delhi is almost over. Today I could do a morning walk without any sweater and that was cool. Hectic altetnate day duty going on in neurosx mains. Still life is good. Kudos.

Cross country bike trip

I did a long ride last december which lasted for 12 days. I started from Delhi. Destination was Kerala. I travelled on Honda Unicorn which is a 150cc bike.
I picked a route along the west side to Kerala. I passed through Jaipur, Ratlam (MP), Narayangaon (MH), Pune, Goa, Thrissur ( Kerala). It took 7 days including one day stay at Goa.
Return was through central India. Thrissur, Coimbatore (TN), Bangaluru, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Jhansi, Agra, Delhi. Return ride took 5 days continuous ride.

Covered a total distance of 5300 kilometers. Petrol for around 9000 rupees. Night stay cost around 5000.

Had one life threatening accident. Rolled over a divider at night in UP at 80km speed. By Gods grace I had no major injuries other than some lacerations. Bike had some problems, but drivable.
It was a lifetime risky experience. I wont advice anyone to do that. Also I could not find anything so interesting in it, that I want to do it again :-)

Aftermath: while riding alone in cold rain on a highway with such  unpredictable surface, in a torn overcoat and gloves, on a bike with broken lamp and brake till next town which is 80km away, I understood that watching tv lying on a cozy bed with mom in next room is the best feeling in the  world.
